Join us at The Bronte, where every moment is an opportunity to create lasting memories and embrace the true spirit of Morpeth.
Built in 1822 for the honourable Mr Caleb Soul of Soul Paterson Pharmacy fame, this fabulous residence was named after Admiral Nelson, the Earl of Bronte.
When the deeds became ours, we inherited not just a beautiful building, but a profound architectural, cultural, and historical responsibility, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its past owners. Under their stewardship, the house underwent a meticulous refurbishment, reflecting the opulence of its original inhabitants through a captivating blend of Victorian and Asian antiques.
Now, as the current owners, we embrace this rich heritage while also focusing on sustainability. Our aim is to continue the legacy of providing modern travellers with a space that harmonises tranquillity and heritage, while prioritising eco-conscious practices.
Step out our front door into the history of main street Morpeth. Imagine the village as a bustling port with its historic wharf, hitching posts, cobblestones and boutique shops in 19th century buildings, including the bakehouse where the Arnott's family biscuit dynasty began. Add modern café's, restaurants, artisans and art galleries, that blend history with the present day.
Morpeth Village is in the heart of the Hunter Region and a short drive to Newcastle or Hunter Valley Wine country (35 mins), Port Stephens including Nelson Bay (45 mins) and Maitland (10 mins).
With easy access to the M1 and two hours drive from Sydney, we welcome you at The Bronte for any occasion.
